Torn

Words bring courage

The weight of a tongue that drags an ensnared soul out of the muck

Misplaced action haunts the misused

These fictions and memories circle like vultures to tear away the flesh

One body, craven and ravaged

Only the savage can relate to this turmoiled state

Papers folded, with telling notes

Readied piping hot reeds, breath their angry phrases

All the while, the enduring memorial

Stands in triumph over its history

Scales waiver in their importance

To determine which has meaning and which is worthless.
